H&R Block Party

“Let’s get this party started!” That is what we thought when agency partner, Allied, asked us to help build a custom pop-up for H&R Block and Amazon Treasure Truck in Santa Monica on January 22nd, 2019.
Hundreds of people lined up to jump into an enormous H&R Block branded refund pit (custom built by Nest Experiential) for the chance to win some awesome prizes. Several keys were hidden throughout the pit between custom printed money pillows. Each participant had 10 seconds to find one of the hidden keys, and if they found one, they were directed to the H&R Block branded “safety deposit box” (custom built by Nest Environments) which was stuffed with treasures inside select drawers. If the key’s number matched the number of a drawer with treasure inside, winners received prizes like an Amazon Echo Dot, Amazon gift card, and many other amazing prizes.
Our agency partner’s vision was spot on for the event and gave us a great project to design. After the collaboration and final approval of design, we did the entire fabrication in less than a week! All the while ensuring that it looked great, was quick to setup up and tear down, and hold 600 cubic feet of custom pillows and foam! It was a super fun project to build, but it was even a more fun project to test! ;-)
The event was a huge success. Cotton candy was handed out, people could play giant Jenga, and a DJ appropriately played songs like “For The Love of Money’’ by The O’Jays and “I need a dollar’’ by Aloe Blacc. It was the perfect spot for influencers and passers-by to get a nice photo for their social media. The activation got more than a million likes!
H&R Block set out a goal to make people excited about the upcoming tax season and the activation did just that! The party was a lot of fun and we are glad we got to be a part of this experience!
